The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is a membership society which is also a registered charity. Established in 1818. The main functions of the ICE are: •a centre of learning •a provider of professional status •a voice of the profession, on occasions lobbying government •to facilitate best practice, providing training and recruitment Website: www.ice.org.uk ICE also has a commercial arm called Thomas Telford (TTL) based in Heron Quay, the commercial arm of the institution activities. Run by a Managing Director, who is also the ICE Director of Commercial Services.
